Sleeping under the stars- we’ve been doing it for millennia! And then at some point, we packed up, and discovered roofs. Don’t get me wrong, I love roofs, some of my best friends are roofs, but there’s a magic to seeing the sky above you at night. Here are the 12 best places to sleep under the stars. #1 Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah
This beautiful national park has one of the darkest skies in the country- making star gazing easy. The Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival in June. Asteroid 49272 was named in honor of the festival! Every week, hundreds of visitors camp here- and quite frequently, camping events are held, with programs on nocturnal activities, astronomy, and night sky protection.
#2 Galloway Forest Park, Scotland
The first park in the United Kingdom to receive Dark Sky Park status, this is one of the most peaceful places to sleep under the stars. The epitome of Scottish natural beauty, and the home of many legends, Galloway is a must-see.
