There are so many reasons to travel, I had a hard time picking just 15! Here are the ones I narrowed it down to:
- Eating new food! You know I had to put this one here. Even if you live in a megacity, go to the world’s cuisines instead of having them come to you.
- Challenging yourself. You’re afraid of heights? Zip lining in Costa Rica should cure that.
- Learning how to relax. A couple of weeks away will help even the most Type-A person chill out- I speak from experience here, folks.
- Learning how to plan: A useful, useful tool.
- Learning how to live in the moment. Put the camera and itinerary away, and enjoy where you are.
- Absence makes the heart grow fonder, you’ll appreciate home even more once you’ve had some time away from it.
- Expanding your viewpoints. Travel will open your eyes to ideas you’d never have heard of in your life.
- Restarting. If you travel for a while, you’ll return to a clean slate
- Rejuvenating. Travel is the most relaxing, rejuvenating, and stress relieving thing to me!
- You’ll make better small talk! Everyone loves a good travel story.
- Learning new things. Be it how to make Thai food, scuba dive, or play the violin, you’ll always learn new things in a new place.
- Shopping! Start collecting stuff from all over the world.
- You’ll learn how to make new friends- If you don’t play well with others (this is directed at me more than anyone else), meeting cool new people abroad will teach you how to make more friends at home.
- Make a new tradition- travel someplace every two months!
- You’ll never stop traveling, learning new things, and meeting new people once you take that first trip.
